Sleeping

  • ohare: cots in the American terminal, to the gate, B11 I think, ( It is the one next to the Alaska Airlines gates) and to my surprise, found over 100 cots in a darkened area, that was being watched over by the security guards. On each cot there was a pillow and freshly washed blanket, At 4 AM the lights came on and a loud anouncement was made that everyone had to get up. They fold up the cots during the day so who would notice that this was offered? I asked the guards if they set up the cots due to the weather and they said no they have them there all the time! So, I think that this is the “Best Kept Secret”, because the airlines did not inform me of the cots in the airport 1
  • ohare: The best place in this terminal was next to gate K1. There’s a small alcove that’s partially hidden from the rest of the terminal. It’s very quiet and no one disturbed me.
  • midway: Concourse B is very big and cozy.I slept in a chair and time flew by. It is not bad
  • midway: Apparently due to new post 9-11 security requirements you must now sleep in the non-secure area. This means either by the ticket counter or baggage claim. I think we were kicked out of the terminal around 12am
  • midway: announcement, which say, you have to leave airport after midnight and before 5AM if you are not airport employee or security staff, keep bothering/threatening me every 10 min. Dang it. FYI: If you have to stay over night, Go to ticketing area (3rd. floor) as early as possible. (baggage claim area, bottome flr., is worse) There’re few benches without arm-rest
  • midway: Security kicked me (and a few others) out of the terminals for some reason, but oddly enough let us all crash in baggage claim. Convenient for them, but not for us. We had to trade the comfy, warm oversized seating in the terminal for cold, hard, plastic bench seating in baggage claim
