One of the best runs going. * 2006.06.03 - ran 45 min around Carmel then another 45 with the WNLR. Cut over from the beach and met up with the lead pack of 4 runners on the Pebble Beach course, ran to the lone Cypress tree and back to Ocean Ave. Follows 17 mile drive but cuts through Pebble Beach, mostly paved, a few great views, and light hills. Total run: 1hr 35min. I think I ran a total of 14 miles on this gmap route, just not entirely sure running in and around Pebble Beach - we stayed on golf cart roads most of the time and ran to the Cypress - which I think is the parking lot area on the furtherst point out. * **Monday Track Workout at MPC Track** ~ **5:30 pm** (4:30 in winter) Speed workouts for the serious runner. You must be on the "approved" DLI list for entrance. Various distances through the hills of Ft. Ord or Toro Regional Park. (gmap Toro Park) * **Sunday Morning Fun Run** ~ **8:30 am** at the Fishwife Restaurant (gmap Fishwife) at Asilomar Beach in Pacific Grove. A beautiful six mile run along Pebble Beach's 17 Mile Drive. ===== Monterey ===== ==== Trail Mtry-Ft Ord ==== Monterey to Ft Ord - 14 miles (7 out/back) on the Monterey trail. Approximately a ~2 hour run total, mostly paved, more uphill on the way out. * 2006.04.02 - 2 hours total, from home to 2nd ave at Ft Ord. nice cool day, no need for water but got quite tired coming back when got to Del Monte St. ==== Scenic PG Loop ==== Loop around PG - 10 miles+ loop, mostly on the Monterey trail through Fishermans wharf, Custom House area, along Ocean View Blvd beyond Lovers Point and Asilomar, take 17 mile drive to Lighthouse in central PG, follow Lighthouse back to the trail at Prescott down to the Aquarium. Return via the trail but climb the hill at Scott street to Van Buren just past the parking garage. * 2006-05-?? - nice long run, enjoyed it ==== 17 Mile Drive ==== 17 Mile Drive Loop - 10 miles to the Hwy 68/1 intersection, 1 mile+ back home. Sounds like fun, mostly flat along the coast then uphill in the last mile. ==== Skyline-Hwy68-Hwy1 ==== Skyline-Hwy 1 Loop - 5+ miles up Jefferson and onto Skyline road to Hwy 68, south to Hwy 1, East on Hwy 1 back to Monterey at Munras St, return via Pacific street. One big uphill, then downhill nearly the entire way back after peaking onto Hwy 68 from Skyline. * 2006.05.27 - 45 min or so, from home. Went up the hills alright and felt light, just not very fast... was definitely winded at the top! Running back via Hwy 68 and 1 was all downhill and a bit difficult, almost too much pure uphill followed by pure downhill. ===== Carmel ===== ===== Big Sur ===== ==== Old Coast Road ==== From the WNLR where to run page (only listed item) There is a 10.3 mile stretch of dirt road which semi-parallels Highway One and runs between the northern end of Bixby Bridge and lets out across from Andrew Molera State Park in Big Sur. If offers breathtaking views of the coast from atop high peaks as well as lush green ferns and towering redwoods growing next to a fast running creek. Wildlife is abundant in this area and you might spot wild turkeys, deer, bobcats, and mountain lions as well as the numerous cows that graze here.
